Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical was established in 1983, the same year as Sinopec. Its predecessor was a 300,000-ton/year ethylene project (a key project during the Sixth and Seventh Five-Year Plans of the State), which started construction in 1984 and was fully put into operation in 1990.
